WINTER WELLNESS EVENT WITH ALICE LIVEING

Today our co-founder, Caroline, is sharing her experience at a recent health & wellness event in Leeds, held by Flourish.

Recently I went to a great event in Leeds all about health & wellness. I discovered the event on Alice Liveing’s Instagram Stories who is one of my favourite fitness Instagrammers.

As it’s not far from me & I was excited to see an event come to the North of England which often gets overlooked. I bought my ticket straight away. Once the Saturday evening arrived I headed to Leeds in the car (thanks to the train strike I had to drive) & made my way to Lamberts Yard where the event was happening.

I believe this was the first event by Flourish & I have to say they did an excellent job! On arrival, we were welcomed with prosecco or kombucha & had a chance to chat with some of the other women at the event. It can be daunting going to events on your own sometimes but everyone I spoke to was really friendly.  The theme for the evening was winter wellness, the perfect topic for a cold & windy January evening.

The table decor was fantastic & we all had our own place ready for us, again this made it much easier being on my own. I was sat some great women & we had lots of chats about health & wellbeing.

The meal was vegan & although I am not vegan it was fine to try something different for the evening. All of the recipes were by one of the speakers on the evening, Elisa from Happy Skin Kitchen. For my main, I went for the mushroom risotto & chocolate for pudding.

After dinner, it was time for the panel of health & wellbeing influencers.  Alice & Elisa were also joined by Rachel from Healthy & Psyched & Nichola from NicsNutritionwho I’ve also followed for a number of years.

The discussion was focused on winter wellness & how we can stay healthy during the winter months. The general consensus was to find a balance which works for you, get outside when you can & find an exercise which works for you. We were also reminded that winter is traditionally a time for hibernation so you can allow yourself to do different workouts & eat differently in the winter. It can still allow you to live a healthy life!

After the panel discussion, there was the chance to go upstairs to collect a fabulous box from WellFitBox & you could also have some massage & hair treatments. I didn’t on this occasion as I was ready to head home.

I had a great evening, it was good to get out on a cold January evening & learn more about winter wellness!
