Last week I was invited to the Giffgaffmoneyfit event held at Firehouse Fitness in Leeds, the aim of the event was to celebrate the launch of Giffgaff’s new service tailored to help you with all your financial needs. Myself and many others know Giffgaff as a telecommunications company but in 2018 they are branching out into the financial sector, you can learn more about that here
At the event, we were challenged to earn money towards our own financial goals by taking part in a fitness challenge. We could earn 20p for every calorie burned up to a maximum of 200 calories meaning there was £40 up for grabs if we could complete the treadmill challenge in the 20-minute timeframe allowed. As a fitness enthusiast who enjoys running, I was excited by the prospect of earning some extra money while burning some calories. This was definitely a sweat worth working for, weekend cardio and extra spending money, that’s a win-win in my book!
We were split into two groups of eight, after a gentle warmup with the firehouse fitness crew some of us jumped on the treadmill to burn those calories while the other group met with the Giffgaff team to lean more about their new financial services, ill definately be taking ideas from them in the future to help me with my own financila goals in 2018, their website has lots of advice on how to be clever with your money and gives tips on how to be smart while saving, they also provide online credit checks and advice on personal loans. I’d recommend checking it out to pick up a few tips that you can use to help keep your finances on track.
We also got the chance to make up some delicious smoothies to aid our recovery from the workout. A team was on hand to show us how to make two tasty drinks packed with goodness to help us stay fit and healthy. The first was a fruit smoothie loaded with berries that tasted great, definitely a recipe ill be trying again at home. Next up was a vegetable-based smoothie which was super healthy made with lots of greens like spinach and kale. I must admit it didn’t taste as good as the berry drink but it was still enjoyable and packed full of goodness.
I left the event with some more knowledge of how to keep my finances in order, a feeling of accomplishment after smashing the challenge and working up a good sweat plus I had an extra £40 in my pocket, thanks Giffgaff!
