It was exciting times at Voltage Sport HQ when an email landed in our inbox inviting us to attend the BBC Radio 1 Xtra Live event at the Leeds Arena. We are huge fans of live music so Keil was delighted accept the invitation. We believe life is all about balance, we work hard so we can enjoy our leisure time, let our hair down and take a little break from our training regimes. To us exercise and music are synonymous with each other, they go hand in hand and we can't imagine our workouts without a great playlist in our ears, many a time the motivation from a good beat has pushed us to run that extra kilometre or push out that extra rep.
So onto the event, I was a guest of the Three mobile network who's aim was to showcase their brand new 4G Super Voice service which allows you to make calls and access your phone wherever you are, hence the setting of the First Direct arena. For the evening I was provided with a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge phone which I used to take photos and videos throughout the event.
After a good week of working out in the gym it was a good time to get out and meet new people, its always nice to make new friends and try out new things. I was handed my phone and given a quick run though some of the relevant features that would come in handy throughout the night. If you've been on my personal instagram page you will know I love a selfie so was really excited to see that this feature was really quick and easy to use, literally just tap the screen and your photo is there! They also have a beautify feature which pretty much photoshops your images so there is no editing required, hello beautiful pictures at the touch of a button. Looking back at some of my photos I may have used this feature a little too much!
As I said life is about balance and we always do our best to follow the 80/20 rule. 80% healthy food and workouts and 20% indulging a little bit, this helps keep everything consistent and manageable on a daily basis. I grabbed a cider and went to find my seat! Our seats were high up in the arena which meant later on it got very hot and sweaty so with all the dancing to the music I still got in a great workout, result!
BBC 1 Xtra Live had a number of different acts playing, all of which are regularly played on the station, the genre's were typically RnB and Hip Hop which happen to be some of my favourites when I'm working out, if its got a good beat I'm all over it!. My favourite acts on the night were Flo Rida, Leathal Bizzle and Tinie Tempah. It can be difficult to get good photos with the flashing strobe lights and smoke machines but I think the Samsug did a good job! I most enjoyed Tinie Tempah's headline act as I'm a big fan of listening to some of his tracks when I'm working out - I love to play Tsunami and Miami 2 Ibiza when I'm running so it was good to hear them live and have a little sing and dance along!
As well as learning about the Three network and their new Super Voice service I also found out that you can use your mobile while abroad in a number of countries for no extra charge, as a customer of Three anyway I'm really excited about this, no more worrying about data charges when I'm travelling! Im looking forward to using the benefits of Super Voice when I'm working out too, I alternate between my phone and classic iPod when I exercise and the gym I attend is a really old building with poor mobile reception so listening to my music streaming apps can be difficult sometimes, also as a business owner access to my mobile for business purposes when I'm working out will be really beneficial too. Its an exciting time to be a Three customer.
Overall I gave the evening a big thumbs up! It was a great night and fantastic to meet new people, have a little dance party, listen to some great music and try out a new phone! You can find more information about Samsung at the Three hub.
I attended this event as a guest of Three mobile and all views are my own. All pictures included in this post have had no additional editing other than crop for re-sizing.
